Youth Justice Services Program Manager 6 month Contract

This front line supervisory role involves managing a staff team working in a secure detention/custody facility.  The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential services for youth and will be responsible for shift leadership, monitoring all aspects of the program, and ensuring services operate safely and effectively while managing related administrative duties. This role involves shift work and weekends.


  • Demonstrated understanding of youth behaviour and the Youth Justice System
  • Experience supervising and leading a team of direct care workers
  • Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust
  • Ability and willingness to lead youth through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting
  • Sound knowledge of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Experience preparing and editing reports and supporting documentation
  • Proven computer skills in MS Office
  • Valid Ontario (G) driver’s licence, current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC),
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Certificate Level C
  • Current Prevention & Management of Aggressive Behaviour (PMAB) Certificate
  • Post Secondary education in a related field, such as Child and Youth Care, Social Service Worker,  Social Sciences
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a youth residential setting
  • 2 years supervisory experience in a unionized setting

Salary:                        Competitive salary and 6% vacation pay

                                     King Street Detention – London, ON
