Developmental Services: Part-Time Direct Care Worker – Contract (INTERNAL)

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing supports, within a residential setting, to adults with developmental, physical, and behavioural challenges. Shifts will involve hours as scheduled, primarily evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications:
• Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust

• Ability/willingness to lead individuals through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting consistent with Cognitive Behavior Theory and Lead Management
• Ability to work independently in the delivery of services on shift, as well as within a team
• Demonstrated understanding of support requirements specific to individuals with developmental challenges
• Experience supporting individuals with daily living while pursuing leisure and recreational opportunities
• Ability to write clear, concise observations of behaviour
• Advocate on behalf of individuals to achieve goals
• Proven computer skills, MS Office preferred
• Ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on Policies & Procedures
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills; attention to detail
• A valid Ontario (G) Driver’s Licence, current Police Records Check & Vulnerable Position Screening, Standard First Aid Certificate, CPI Certificate
• Post Secondary in a related field or equivalent
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in residential services, supporting individuals with complex and high behavioural needs
• Bilingualism is considered an asset

Starting Wage:  $20.34 per hour plus 4% vacation pay – Contract to January 2019

Temporary Special Assignment

INTERNAL ONLY

A recent collaboration with a community partner has created an exiting opportunity for qualified Direct Care Workers. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for supporting the specific needs of a new female receiving service for an undetermined time period. This temporary role involves life skills teaching and coaching, supporting with basic care and behaviour management. Successful applicants will have solid knowledge and experience with the specific developmental, physical, and medical challenges of the person receiving service and the ability to advocate on their behalf. Hours of work and shifts include evenings, weekends, overnights, and public holidays, will be based on the needs of the individuals in the program and will be up to 30 hours per week.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of related post-secondary education (Social Work, CYW, DSW, SSW) or equivalent Post Secondary education
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate (C.P.I)
